Our Story

Kånton Tåsi was founded by students from Guam pursuing higher education in Southern California, united by a shared connection to home and a deep responsibility to our people. Like many in our community, we have seen firsthand what it means for families to leave Guam to seek medical care in places like Los Angeles, Hawai‘i, and Manila. Some of us know loved ones who have made this journey, facing uncertainty, distance, and hardship during some of the most vulnerable moments of their lives.

Having grown up within Guam’s healthcare system, we understand both its strengths and its limitations. While we are committed to being part of a future where healthcare on Guam fully meets the needs of our people, we also recognize the urgent reality facing families today. Kånton Tåsi was created to support our community where they are now—off island, far from home, and in need of care and connection.

Guided by the CHamoru value of inafa’maolek, the belief in mutual respect, cooperation, and collective responsibility, we exist to uplift one another through compassion and service. Our hope is that this organization will continue to serve families until the day our community no longer has to travel off island for lifesaving care. Until then, we remain committed to walking alongside our people, wherever their journey may take them.
